Treating Anxiety

Look for the ‘fear’ label… you’ll find it stuck on you

I have a plan for you…

1
Remove the root cause
2
Eradicate the situational fear
3
Make the changes automatic

If you have anxiety, you’ve probably spent time and effort desperately trying to cope with the feelings of fear, and avoid any situations that cause you to feel anxious. The plan I have for you is NOT about coping with anxiety, it’s about removing it. So you no longer feel the fear, then you will be able to do anything you want to, without feeling afraid.

Types of anxiety

Anxiety takes different forms and although they have similar characteristics, they all have subtle differences so they need to be treated differently. The list below is not exhaustive, but it covers the main ones.

  • Agoraphobic Behaviours
  • Social Anxiety
  • Panic Attacks
  • Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
  • Simple Phobias
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Treating Anxiety

Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool, particularly with problems like anxiety. By using hypnotherapy, we can discover how the problem started, and this will help establish a way to remove the primary cause. Allowing us to change the automatic “jump to fear” that most anxious people have.

Once the cause of your anxiousness has been removed, we will tackle all the situations where you feel anxious. Sometimes there are many circumstances and places that are triggers for your anxiety. But don’t worry, we don’t have to treat them all.

We will identify a few of the key areas and work to remove the fear from these situations. Fortunately, your brain is able to generalise, and after we have knocked down a few of these hurdles in your life, your subconscious mind will reduce the anxious feelings across the board.

It never ceases to amaze me how clients can live with feeling anxious for years, without seeking help from a professional hypnotherapist, given the well-proven techniques that hypnotherapy offers.

Most of my clients have simply been brave, sometimes for years. They often have very complex avoidance routines that have become automatic, and these have to be undone to enable the new, more appropriate behaviours to take root and become automatic.

Hypnotherapy is a great tool for treating anxiety, but it’s not suitable for everyone. If you feel anxious, or know somebody who suffers from anxiety, give me a call and we can discuss how hypnotherapy may be able to help. We can discuss your problems and find a solution that meets your needs.
